Detailed itinerary for 8 days Rwanda safari and primate trekking
Day 1: Transfer from Kanombe airport to Kigali
Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by your guide or driver, who will help you with your luggage and brief you a little about the safari. You will transfer to your booked hotel for dinner and overnight. Meal plan: H/B
Day 2: Kigali city tour and later transfer to Nyungwe Forest
After your breakfast, you will tour the capital city of Rwanda, that is to say, Kigali, in different places like the Belgian Memorial, Kigali Historical Museum, and Genocide Museum. After your lunch, proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Check into your booked safari lodge for dinner and overnight accommodations upon your arrival. Meal Plan: F/B
Day 3: Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest National Park
After your breakfast, transfer to the park offices for a short briefing to help you familiarize yourself with the activity you will be doing, i.e., chimpanzee tracking. You will then be ready to penetrate the Nyungwe forest to search for these beautiful creatures, and when you finally get time with them, take all the memories with you in the form of so many beautiful pictures. You may also encounter other primates, like different monkey species. Return to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon of relaxation. Dinner and overnight. Meal plan: F/B.
Day 4: Canopy and nature walkways in Nyungwe Forest
This will be an exciting day to venture out into the thick canopies of Nyungwe for a canopy walk within the forest. Expect to enjoy the full stretch of the remarkable beauty of this forest. Return to the lodge for lunch and set out for a guided walk to Kamiranzovu waterfalls. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Meal plan: F/B.
Day 5: Visit Lake Kivu and relaxation
After breakfast, we will travel to Lake Kivu in Kibuye town. You will definitely encounter such beautiful scenery on your way. After lunch, take a thrilling boat cruise on Lake Kivu, a great opportunity to see different wildlife and aquatic birds along the shores. Dinner and overnight at your booked safari lodge. Day 6: Golden monkey tracking and visit Dian Fossey
After your breakfast, you will head out to Volcanoes National Park for a golden monkey trekking experience with These creatures are very fascinating and quite a unique bunch, but sadly, they are one of the most endangered animal species here in Uganda. You will get to learn about them, take plenty of pictures, and return for your lunch. After lunch, head to Karisoke Research Centre to visit Dian Fossey’s grave, the once-great primatologist who fought for the protection of these gentle giants. Day 7: Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Head to the park offices after your breakfast for a short briefing that will usher you into this activity. You will then be ready to enter the forest in search of the shy mountain gorillas; it might be a long day out in the forest depending on the movement of these creatures. When you finally get close to these beautiful creatures, you will be allowed one hour with them to observe and take plenty of pictures. Day 8: Transfer from Volcanoes National Park to Kanombe Airport
